Following up on the MOU signed between CRDB Bank Foundation (CBF) and Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), CBF is excited to share the progress of our joint efforts in supporting barley farmers in Tanzania.
The CBF team has conducted visits to nine Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (Amcos) in the Kilimanjaro, Arusha, and Manyara regions.
Through this strategic alliance, both parties are committed to empowering farmers by offering capacity-building programmes, seed capital, life insurance coverage, and essential agricultural inputs such as fertilisers and agrochemicals. The goal is to boost barley production and equip farming communities with the necessary tools and knowledge for sustainable agricultural practices and financial management.
This collaboration creates alignment for achieving a shared vision around:
1. Community Development: By prioritising livelihood improvement, the programme contributes to broader community development, fostering economic growth, food security, and rural prosperity.
2. Sustainable Agricultural Practices: By promoting smart agriculture and financially empowering farmers, the programme encourages sustainable practices that protect the environment and reduce chemical inputs.
3. Capacity Building: The partnership facilitates the transfer of financial literacy knowledge and skills to local farmers, empowering them to make informed decisions and adapt to evolving agricultural practices and market demands.
4. Increased Yields and Incomes: Through timely access to agricultural inputs, smart technology utilisation, and training, farmers can enhance productivity, leading to higher yields and improved incomes for their families.
